Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Services
The group was founded in 1992 performing a wide range of engineering services.
Market research, contract hardware and software design, and manufacturing consulting services.
Engineering services range from original concept and design to prototype development, modeling
and pre-production pilot manufacturing. Since 1995, the primary focus of the company is in the
design and development of commercial Web sites, Intranet/Extranet development and related
Internet hosting services.
We are an innovative Web Design Consultant business specializing in result-oriented web
development and marketing services. We build web sites for corporate and small businesses. We provide a
vast range of design services from creating a simple personal web page to full featured
corporate web sites.
If your small business is like most, your resources are limited. You can't afford to spend
thousands of dollars on advertising. That's why the Web has become such a powerful resource for
small businesses. Virtual storefronts have greatly reduced overhead. And with software that lets
you list your Web site on hundreds of search engines, the little guys can now get in the ring
with the heavyweights. Online, you're as big as your Web presence.
So, if you're looking to create or remodel a marketing-oriented web site or corporate Intranet
then take a look around. Learn more about the group, services and rates.
We will create a web site that is right for you. We help you to define your goals and offer many
different packages to suit your needs.
Here at The Davisgroup we freely admit to being very opinionated individuals. Our recognition of opinion allows us strength and gives
flight to imagination, direction and purpose.
Now that being said, we stress that being different, just to be different with no
direction, only causes you to lose credibility.
The right look for the right client...
At The Davisgroup we are concerned
with the effectiveness of your graphic design, as well as finding the
perfect "fit". Solutions for one organization may not
be right for another.
Don't let a designer outfit you to look
foolish.
This fundamental design principal
drives our business. We
strive to challenge our clients and ourselves to achieve
the most creative solutions, while always keeping in mind your
target audience.
The Davisgroup understands the new frontier. We will
guide you safely and you will see your design investment payoff.
You can be a part of this emerging Online Business Community! Your website is
as much a part of your total corporate identity as any more traditional
aspect has always been.
Keeping your sense of humor...

While most business oriented sites should avoid looking silly or immature, don't
fall into the trap of becoming so 'stuffy' and humorless that you lose your
warmth and approachability. It's always important to remember your visitors'
comfort level. After all - your goal is to get them to the site; keep them there
long enough to convey your message; and keep them coming back!
To this end, we recommend:
- Keep your site feeling friendly and human.
- Remember that less is more. Don't overwhelm your visitors with a sea
of dancing animation, volumes of text, or over-done frames. Simplicity is elegance.
- Offer them something they can't get elsewhere - be it a valuable tool, or often
updated information.
After Care ...or "How to avoid site breakdown"
If you've ever dieted to lose weight, or gone through a self-improvement program, you
know that after you've reached your goal, you enter what's known as "maintenance".
Because a website is like a living entity - always changing to represent your interests,
it too must enter a "maintenance mode" after your initial design is complete.
Because traditional print media is a finite product that can only be replaced rather than
updated and tweaked, many business people are not prepared for the after-care tasks that
exist with their new site. When they realize that this and that needs to be added,
changed or deleted, they feel sure they can handle the task - after all, it's just a small,
simple thing, right?
If your company has someone trained in the field to do updates properly, always remembering
that the site is a total structure with design to adhere to rather than a piece-meal
operation, then you may be successful in handling your own maintenance and updates.
But usually the reason your firm hired a professional designer in the first place is
because you realized that you did not have the capabilties in-house.
For some reason, however, many people feel that once they have this "master blueprint",
they'll be able to maintain the site themselves - from simple notices about the company
picnic, to legal findings, corporate mergers and press releases. So they ask "Joe" in the
mailroom to edit the pages please.
Little by little, page by page, the site's beauty, elegance and professionalism breaks
down. A single formatting mistake, image size statement error, or pieced in clip-art,
can take you from a superb site that really works, to a mish-mash "comedy of errors".
The reasons for this elude me. I have been told that they feel they have the tools to do
the job and they can look at what we've done and follow our lead. But certainly they
realize that their website development is an investment in their corporate success.
Would you endanger any other investment this way?
Would you purchase a fabulous new sports car and then decide you could do any needed
engine work yourself - after all, you do own a wrench. And the engine construction is
right there in front of you. Of course you wouldn't - that car was an investment.
By the same token, you would not attempt brain surgery simply because you knew where to
buy a good scalpel, right?
We're not saying "in-house maintenance" can't work for you - we simply want you to look
before you leap. Make sure you have the tools AND the talent before you take on the task.
Aftercare maintenance is a very small investment compared to your initial site creation
costs. If you're not sure, ask. We'll be happy to talk about your follow up needs and
how to keep your site breathing healthy!
